History
Maloy Funeral Home was founded in 1896 on First Street., in Duquesne, PA by Albert Maloy. The funeral home was relocated to a second location on Grant Ave. for several years and moved to its present location, 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne in the 1940's.

The funeral home was operated by J. Albert Maloy, until his retirement when his son Leo A. Maloy continued the business until his death in 1957, at which time his wife Mercedes T. Maloy, operated the funeral home, first with a widow's license and then after going to the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and receiving her funeral director's license in 1963.

The funeral home was purchased in December 1975 by William B. Schleifer and his wife Jean Ann Zubak Schleifer.

The funeral home has three large parking lots, with off street parking to accommodate over sixty cars, for visitors.

The funeral home sponsors a grief support group that meets the second Wednesday of every month at Holy Name Church Hall from 7-9 pm. It is facilitated by Dr. Barbara Covne a certified grief therapist counselor.

The funeral home also sponsors a Christmas Holiday Memorial service, honoring everyone that has passed away during the year.

The funeral home also has been a sponsor and volunteer participant for the November 11, 2000 balloon release in conjunction with the groundbreaking of the W.W.II memorial in Washington DC The Funeral Home is one of the oldest business in the Duquesne & West Mifflin Area.

William B. Schleifer is a second generation funeral director. He is a graduate of St. Thomas District High School in Braddock, Community College of Allegheny County, Boyce Campus and a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.

He was honored at a Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Convention in 1998 as a 25 year license.

He and his wife reside above the Funeral Home in Duquesne, with his wife Jean and three children. Jenny a nurse at Kane Regional Center in McKeesport, Kristen a nurse in the emergency room at Braddock Hospital and Billy a student at Penn State McKeesport and soon to be entering the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He also serves as a volunteer fireman for the Duquesne vol. Fire Department.

Mark Donato
A graduate of Penn Hills High School, Robert Morris College and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He has been a Licensed funeral director since 1992 and is a certified preplanning consultant (of which there are only 800 nationwide). He also served as a volunteer for US AIR Flight #427.

Allan J. Weber
Lifetime Duquesne and West Mifflin resident. His is a 1979 graduate of Duquesne Senior High School, 1981 Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, and 1992 Carlow College, Bachelor of Science in Biology.

Allan accomplishments are as follows:
  • Former Deputy coroner for Washington County, PA
  • He is a Pathologist's assistant / autopsy supervisor formerly with UPMC now associated with Monongalia Health System
  • Representative 1989 National Forum on AIDS and HIV, in Washington DC
  • Volunteered in recovery efforts of both Flights US AIR #427 and United Flight #93
  • Member of The American Association of Pathologists Assistants.
